Promotion of friendly aquaculture and wildlife management practices in tributary systems of Albania

There is good progress with the project. The implementation of monitoring actions at specific sites is ongoing and contact has been established with the Directory for the Nature Conservation Policy in Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Water Administration in Albania.

The Action Plan for the conservation of otter in Albania is progressing. Protection and Preservation of Natural Environment in Albania (PPNEA) has already contracted two experts and the Action Plan will be produced in both Albanian and English. The implementation phase of the camera trapping season in specific wetlands of Albania is currently taking place.

Furthermore, a workshop was held on 4th February 2010 for nature conservation Master students from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Elbasan University. The workshop focussed on biology, ecology and conservation challenges of otters in Albania.
